Good Corporate Governance is the guideline for management control in all aspects of an organization's operations, and forms a crucial basis for operational efficiency improvement and ultimate benefits to the Bank and the nation. Job descriptions of all personnel are defined against their expected performances. Supervision and control are well-defined and transparent in every process at every tier of personnel, from operators to management staff to the board of directors.

     SME Bank realizes the importance of being an organization of good corporate governance for the benefits of stakeholders, which include SME clients, shareholders, employees and management staff, as well as alliance in the private and public sectors. In 2003, we undertook various initiatives in the interest of stakeholders as outlined below.

• For SME clients, we are committed to Customer Focus. For transparency of service, SME Bank initiated the "White Bank" campaign by setting up P.O. Box 1313 as an alternative communication channel between clients and the Bank. Clients are welcome to notify of any problems, which will be valuable in the Bank's continuing efforts to improve operations and services.
• For shareholders, we focus on the promotion and development of SME entrepreneurs, who are the foundations of the country's social and economic development, in accordance with the government policy. To this end, SME Bank does not aim to maximize profits.
• For employees and management staff, we realize the importance of developing their knowledge and skills, to fully equip them in the tasks of SME counseling. The Bank is dedicated to the strengthening of organizational culture and shared values, teamwork, and motivation, with due regard given to adequate and appropriate welfare.
• For alliances, we endeavor to form a network of alliances with public and private-sector organizations, with an aim to integrate know-how and services for the promotion and development of SME entrepreneurs.
